Jolly Bonny Anne ships blog, Second Life, 19th September '08

ARRR it be talk like a pirate day!!

To start the day, the scurvy crew of the Bonny Anne attacked Sydney Opera House and the BigPond complex on Second Life.  ARRRR it was an adventure to be sure - the crew endured shark attacks and a maze of treacherous waterways, but they n'er lost sight of the prize!

The crew of the Bonny Anne comprised Joetoelickr Larsson as the navigator, and Lucrezia Ceawlin as quartermaster.  Ship's captain, as always, was GaiaGirl.  A crew of scallywags and n'er do wells!

Navigator Larsson's knowledge of these waters was invaluable - some straits were impassable, tho' with some close encounters with the shoals we sailed on. 

The Sydney Harbour Bridge proved to be too well guarded to mount an attack.  We lost a ship going under the Bridge - a lesson to be had for pirates to be sure.  At first the Bridge was a sight for sore eyes, tho' we mourned the loss of a good crew as that ship meet Davy Jones.

Our armada continued on towards our prize!  Pondi Beach was our first port o' call.  The crew of the Bonny Anne put ashore on the beach to rape, loot and pillage.  OK, just to plunder .... MMM, OK they got out and had a look around.

Beware the sharks off Pondi - they're not shy of attacking ships!  At one stage, the Captain had a shark under each arm, tho' one bite of the Captain and they spat her out.  GaiaGirl, n'er one to take that sort of thing, bit the sharks back and they retreated back into the water.

Onward to the prize - the Sydney Opera House!

Jolly Bonny Anne longboat sank a xebec corsair captained by Pegleg Gans with guns manned by Admiral Chase Speculaas   ~ see me battle chat! LOL ARRR!

Now, it doesn't always take less than five minutes to sink a corsair - this was a fast furious battle with multiple tights turns and in fairness Chase mentions that they hit some flotsam and he swam to my ship on a mast, see photo 1  Chase said "this is actually a perfect outcome though. Now if anyone bitches about the Corsair being overpowered again, I can say "Well, GaiaGirl sunk a corsair with 2 crew using only a Longship with no crew

Chase Speculaas HMS Endeavour

June '08 - Chase Speculaas is the designer, scripter & builder of the best pirate ships in Second Life.  The Admiral has just designed the Corsair, a 1700s ship manned by 5 solid guns each side & featuring two forward guns making it the most heavily armed of the Speculaas armada.  Chase also built the HMB Endeavour which we are now sailing around the port sims of SecondLife.

The flagship is a 1100+ prim HMB Endeavour, made to scale by Chase Speculaas and sailed around the sims in Second Life by GaiaGirl

How to work your second life camera - 2Lcamera blog
Working a 2Lcam is easy when you get the hang of swinging around to get the perspective/angle/look/feel of the right shot to make.  Take few minutes to read our Second Life camera lessons.

As my first & Second Life friends know, I work as a photographer / journalist in RL & 2L and am happy to do a new profile portrait for you, photograph your event, wedding, party or fantasy situation, or work with a stylist to do a fashion shoot for that magazine feature or prepare your photos for a model competition ~ this is the website to collect photographs or order your photo session.

My photographic studio in SL is well equipped, with hundreds of pose balls, animations, backdrops, lighting and three stages: a portrait stage with multiple backdrops, a model stage for large dynamic pictures and a white cyclorama for easy photoshop pics (if you want me to put your portrait onto any background image) – in other words its well equipped to handle almost any assignment from product photos to fashion shoots.  I am also available to do photos on your location.
Models & Event Notifications Group
Our SL group notices include invites to media events, cultural happenings and curiosities by notecard which we edit before posting.  This group is formed to notify when Gaia needs a model, parties and events that we've been invited to.
Its no industry secret that real life photographers have been known to head rent a crowd, IRL we use mobile phone text.  Picture editors and assignment editors and public relations officers are also invited to join the group and send notices.
Jolly Bonny Anne crew status is available to this group.

I am happy to work for Lindens, although please be aware that an hourly rate starts at L1000 (a few dollars) and photo sessions are minimum L500 ~ only occasionally I will reduce my fee if the assignment & you are worthy. IM for details! I do not pay for uploading to you, but am happy to send the photos as we make them to your email, or I prefer to save them to my disk, work them in Photoshop to make sure they are OK, and then make them available for you to pick up anonymously at a secure place on this website soon after the photo session. Please IM me!

The 1EarthMedia team is also available to build any item for your Second Life - from castles & palaces to telescopes & clothing.

Our full time Second Life staff can also organise and promote your event or sim location - combining photography, machinima (inworld video & movie making), journalism and website design.
